Part Inspections Via 3D Scanning

We Provide Part Inspection via 3D Scanning to Many Industries in Tampa and Nationwide

We can perform 3D scanning inspections from simple dimension verification from 2D drawings, to scan/CAD model deviation reports. Our scanning inspection services generally fall into three basic categories:

  • FAI or First Article Inspections
  • In-process Part Inspections
  • Product Part Approval Process

The need for inspections is often influenced by the following scenarios:

  1. Required by a vendor or certification body
  2. The initial production run for a new product
  3. A design change to an existing part, or ECO (engineering change order)
  4. A material or vendor source change
  5. A change in manufacturing process, tools, or location
  6. Greater than 2 years since a part has been made

Another common process required by some vendors is an approval process defined for suppliers, commonly referred to as PPAP.

The Product Part Approval Process will often require various inspections. This process is used to meet vendor requirements for a part, and prove the process is capable of consistently producing quality parts. Vendors often prefer third party inspections to meet compliance. Using 3D scanning for inspection is extremely accurate and much faster than other part inspection methods.

Here are some specific inspection areas we can help with:

Prototype and First Run Parts

  • Reduce inspection and recording time
  • Measurements based on international standards

Inspect Sample Parts

  • Measurements taken independently, frees existing equipment in quality department

Pre-Shipment Inspections

  • Reduce training and labor costs of in-house staff

Incoming Inspections

  • Manage acceptance with constant standards
  • Reduce defects on downstream processes
